This is a basic platformer game. Jump and run, climb ladders, and collect as many coins and diamonds as you can! Avoid the lava, spikes, and other hazards on your way. Jump on enemies to defeat them, at least 3, 4, or 5 times! However, in EASY MODE you have to jump on enemies only once. Stone monsters traversing the lava can bear 10 stomp attacks before they die (HARD MODE: 5). Please note that you can save scores only in HARD MODE. On a desktop machine use the ARROW/WASD keys to move and SPACE/K key to jump, you can also use a gamepad. On a touch screen device use the on-screen controls to do the same. However, I wouldn't play Lava Joe on a mobile phone. The virtual/multitouch joystick just doesn't feel right because there's no tactile feedback. What's more, Level 5 is really BIG and therefore extremely laggy on mobiles. But maybe it's better on a tablet. You can jump through many platforms from below. Whenever your player is standing on a jump-through platform, you can get your player down by pressing DOWN. There are only 6 levels, and you've got plenty of lives, so it shouldn't be too hard to complete all levels. Note that the player can climb up a ladder really fast when pressing the jump button.

Because GDevelop is mostly designed and tested for Chromium you get the BEST PERFORMANCE with chromium based browsers like GOOGLE CHROME or MICROSOFT EDGE.

I myself am a Firefox user and was shocked when I first tested my game in that browser. The framerate always dropped and gameplay didn't feel smooth and there were some weird issues with platforms that have the "Rectangular Movement" behaviour. And yes, WebGL was enabled in my browser. Then I switched to EDGE and everything was fine again: a mostly constant framerate of 60 FPS (even when changed to full screen) and gameplay felt like the GDevelop offline "Previews" on my laptop. By the way, there is a hidden frame counter in the game. Just press "F" on a desktop computer to display it.

Finally I found a way to play Lava Joe with 60 FPS in the Firefox browser on laptops with an integrated graphics card (in my case Intel UHD 620). Here's what I did: Go to the Windows POWER OPTIONS, click on EDIT PLAN SETTINGS, then CHANGE ADVANCED POWER SETTINGS. A small window pops up. Select INTEL GRAPHICS SETTINGS and change your power plan to MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE if your laptop is always plugged in. Unlike a BALANCED setting I did not experience any lagging anymore!

- There are users out there with so-called "hybrid" devices, for example notebook users with touch screens. Often they decide to play a game not in mobile mode but desktop mode. That means they don't start a game by touching the "Play" button on their touch screens but rather by clicking on that button with their mouse (using the mouse pad). In that case they would be rather annoyed by the on-screen control buttons when a touch screen is detected. This version should hide all those buttons on hybrid devices when a user decides to play with mouse, keyboard, or gamepad.
